Comments for the week of Sept. 4 - Sept. 13
Milestones. They are powerful things. In sports, a milestone is the one thing that players stride to achieve. There are many for many different teams, and through the baseball century there have been milestones for pitchers and hitters.
Recently, Ken Griffey Jr.'s 600th monster shot, Randy Johnson's 300th win............ and what you've been waiting for, DEREK JETER'S 2,722th HIT AS A YANKEE. It's been a long time since Lou Gerhig.
Remember what I said about Atlanta and the Wild Card last post, yeah scratch that. They have been doing not so good in the last 10 games. The Marlins are the ones who are stealing the show. Chris Coghlan is making a run for ROY. Other contenders for NL Rookie of the Year are the following: Tommy Hanson, Daniel Murphy, Pablo Sandoval, and Colby Rasmus.
Okay, I have to admit that the Yankees have about a 90% chance that they will win the division. But the Red Sox have hope for the playoffs. Texas is good, but not good enough. I sort of feel bad for them since they haven't made the postseason since 1999. Them came pretty close this year though. If they make the right offseason moves, they're gonna skyrocket in 2010.
But you can't forget they Angels. After Nick Adenhart's tragic passing in April, the Angels will always have an ispirational thought with them going into the playoffs. Their franchise will be scarred by his death forever. There is a memorial outside Angel Stadium. Hopefully I will be going to the All-Star Game next year and I will see the affectionate tributes that his loving friends, family, and fans left for him. And if they win the World Series, it will be Nick Adenhart with them spraying champagne.
Nick Adenhart 1986 - 2009
You're a very good writer. Do you have hopes of being a sports writer? You are on your way. The memorial to Nick Adenhart is very touching. Good use of visuals.
